The Lido Call To Action Regarding River Area Fires
Posted By pderr on July 15, 2025
Lido Residents,
We hope this message finds you well.
We are writing to bring urgent attention to a matter that affects the safety, wellbeing, and quality of life for all residents of The Lido and the surrounding Mission Valley community. Over the past week, three separate fires have occurred along the San Diego Riverwalk adjacent to our property. These incidents not only pose a severe threat to public safety and property but also underscore the ongoing hazards in the area due to encampments and a lack of consistent enforcement and maintenance.
In light of these alarming events, we strongly encourage all residents to take immediate action by contacting key city officials and local media outlets. Our collective voices can make a powerful impact and help drive the city toward implementing necessary safety measures, increasing patrols, and ensuring that preventive actions are taken.
Who to Contact:
1. Mayor Todd Gloria
(619) 236-6330
2. Councilmember Stephen Whitburn – District 3
(619) 236-6633
3. Local News Affiliates:
We recommend reaching out to local news stations such as CBS 8, NBC 7, ABC 10, and Fox 5 San Diego. Sharing your concerns may lead to increased coverage and public awareness of the situation.
CBS 8 (858) 571-8888; yourstories@KFMB.com
NBC 7 (619) 231-3939; community@nbcsandiego.com
ABC 10 (619) 237-1010; team10@10news.com
Fox 5 (858) 492-9269; news@fox5sandiego.com
Talking Points You Can Include:
- The recent pattern of fires poses an escalating risk to residential communities, wildlife, and public infrastructure.
- The proximity of these fires to residential properties like The Lido is deeply concerning.
- There is a need for increased fire prevention, cleanup efforts, enforcement, and safety patrols along the Riverwalk area.
- Residents deserve to feel safe in their homes and community.
We ask that you take just a few minutes of your time to call or email and express your concern. A strong, united response from residents can help urge the city to take meaningful and lasting action.
Thank you for your attention, commitment, and care for our community.
Sincerely,
The Lido Management & Board of Directors
